Welcome to the netToe project homepage (since June 26, 2000)

netToe is a Tic Tac Toe-like game for the Unix consoles written in C using UNIX sockets. It is playable by two players over the network, against computer AI, or against another player on the same machine.

netToe is released under the GNU General Public License and it is open source software.

  • March 22, 2014: netToe version 1.5.1 is released, it resolves a problem with incomplete linking against libcurses.

  • November 22, 2013: netToe version 1.5 is released, with better adaption to desktop systems where graphical candy is used.

  • May 23, 2013: netToe version 1.4.2 is released, with minor changes.

  • May 7, 2013: netToe version 1.4.1 is released, with mended manual page, and improved autotools integration.

  • April 25, 2013: netToe version 1.4.0 is released, with better portability, and new use of Curses and terminal capabilities.

  • March 18, 2010: netToe version 1.3.2 is released, fixing an address resolving issue that depends on the version of Libc in use.

  • February 26, 2010: netToe version 1.3.1 is released, fixing a trivial misprint in the user interaction.

  • February 25, 2010: netToe version 1.3.0 has been released. Reworked network code with ability to use IPv6. Input sanitation and error trapping.

  • January 3, 2010: netToe version 1.2.1 has been released. Fixes a mistake in the autotools files.

  • December 30, 2009: netToe version 1.2.0 has been released. Colouring is suitable for virtual consoles and emulated terminals. A new stronger AI-mode.
